Red-footed Tortoise
Chelonoidis carbonarius
South American tropical omnivore. Uniquely requires substantial fruit (40–70% of diet) and occasional animal protein (< 20%). No brumation. Needs high humidity (60–80%). Exclusively plant diet causes hind leg paralysis; excessive protein causes kidney disease.
